Suspension Policy

Grounds for a Student Suspension

At the discretion of the Principal, a LIIP student (All-Day, After-School, or STEAM) may be suspended for up to one week, when two or more of the following things have taken place:

  1. a sustained ClassDojo score of less than 50% for more than 50% of a quarter
  2. failure to complete any classwork or homework in any one class for a period of 30 continuous days
  3. any one documented instance of:
    • stealing or fighting
    • harassment of a student, teacher, or staff member
    • causing injury to a student, teacher, or staff member by intent or extreme negligence
  4. repeated and documented occurrences of:
    • not listening to teachers
    • bullying
    • a rejection of learning
    • a rejection of LIIP's Philosophy
    • inference with the right of other students to be educated
  5. Additional suspensions may be for periods longer than one week.

Grounds for a Student Expulsion

Any student suspended from LIIP more than twice in one semester may be expelled from LIIP for the remainder of the school year or six months, whichever is longer. No exceptions will be made. Not all expulsions are permanent.

A student who is allowed to return to LIIP after being expelled will be put on probation for one school year. Any suspension during the probationary period will result in the immediate and permanent expulsion of the student from LIIP.
